The past few weeks at Mission Station, our focus has been on learning about the organization Global Partners in Peace and Development (GPPD) and the Koya people of India—an unreached people group who live in remote villages and depend heavily on farming for their daily needs. Much of their lives revolve around simple routines of growing crops, caring for animals, and working hard to provide for their families. Yet, despite their efforts, the Koya still face many challenges, especially when it comes to access to clean water.
The children at Mission Station had the unique opportunity to step into the shoes of the Koya for just a moment. They discovered that water doesn’t come from a faucet in these villages—it must be carried long distances, often balanced carefully on heads in heavy pots. When the kids tried carrying water themselves, they quickly realized how exhausting this daily task can be.
They also learned how the Koya wash their clothes. Without clean water and soap, families often use muddy rivers or streams. To experience this, the children attempted to wash clothes in pools of dirty water. Instead of becoming fresh and clean, the clothes came out stained with mud. This eye-opening activity showed how difficult life can be without safe water.
Through these lessons, the children not only gained insight into farming and village life but also developed a deeper appreciation for the basic resources we often take for granted. They saw firsthand how vital the work of GPPD is—bringing clean water and the hope of Jesus to communities like the Koya.
At Mission Station, our desire is to raise up hearts that care about the world God loves. By learning about the Koya and experiencing even a glimpse of their daily challenges, our children are reminded that missions isn’t just about distant places—it’s about real people with real needs. Together, we can pray, give, and support organizations like GPPD so that both clean water and the Living Water of Christ may reach every village.
