Why Elders: Part 2

This sermon from Acts 14:19–23 highlights the priority of plural pastors (elders) in persevering together to proclaim the gospel, make disciples, and plant churches. Through Paul’s example, we see that faithful ministry involves enduring hardship while investing deeply in people—strengthening and encouraging disciples to continue in the faith as devoted followers of Jesus. A plurality of elders provides shared shepherding, care, and leadership within each local church, reflecting God’s design for healthy church life. As a result, the church is called to gather around those who are hurting, actively engage in making disciples both locally and globally, and recognize the wisdom and blessing of multiple elders faithfully leading Christ’s flock.
