In the lobby and halls of Rainbow Forest, are an amazing group of ladies who seek to make their group's namesake, Piecemakers, more than a title. The women in this group consist of ladies from Rainbow Forest, other local churches, and from the community who seek to make a difference using their sewing talents in service to the Lord.
Recently, the group met to discuss needs and suggestions for the upcoming season with the focus on charity. They sorted through ideas, gave tips, and made plans to begin working on projects soon. In the past, Kathy Woods, one of the leaders shared that they have made NICU incubator covers, medical port pillows, walker bags, fidget quilts for dementia patients, transport blankets for babies who must medically leave their mothers but still need their scent, adult bibs, and pillowcases for children in the hospital, among other items made for the community. Internationally, they've made pillowcase dresses and shorts for children in Uganda (158 dresses and 48 pairs of shorts) and receiving blankets for children in Nicaragua. They already have plans to make tote bags and aprons soon to send with missionary Rick Via!
On this International Charity Day, we are thankful for how God has used this amazing group of women who have put 1 Peter 4:10 into action- both here and around the world. We stand in awe at the work they've done and the work they will continue to do.
1 Peter 4:10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.
A Few Words of Wisdom Captured from a Brief Moment With This Amazing Group:
"Let the fabric speak to you." (when deciding what to make)
"If you tug on your thread and it breaks, it's no good. It's dry-rotted."
When asked about providing dresses for the girls in Africa, one group member mentioned, "What about the boys? We can make shorts for them."
Very nice I like the FB idea, this let’s the community know what the Piecemakers are doing, to help the ones in need, not only the community but also around world.
