Day 2- Saturday, June 7th- Cultural Tour Day- Antiqua
Pastor John led the team devotion from Acts 27:16-21.
When believers arrive in a new culture:
1- It is wise to take in the sights and sounds
2-Understand how God designed the people
3-Listen and learn, so you better understand how to minister.
Sites and Sounds: Antigua is a beautiful city with colorful Spanish colonial buildings. Antigua is surrounded by volcanoes. From the market place, we viewed the “Volcano of Fire” that spewed ash and lava in the air on Friday, June 6.
The Guatemalan people: They are warm and welcoming toward visitors. They have close-knit connections and strong family values. They have adopted the Western culture (Walmart, Burger King, Subway, Carl J’s, McDonald’s, Nike Store, Nail Salons, etc.) with Spanish as their primary language. The sales staff at the market, were quiet, calming and had friendly voice tones.
Listen and Learn: Some of our team members engaged with our translators and market workers to learn more about their culture, their families and their faith.
Please Pray:
Thank the Lord, Pastor Jonathan’s guitar made it to Guatemala, but has not been delivered. Continue to pray that Pastor Jonathan will get his guitar.
Pray as we start ministry preparation and packaging for a food distribution.
Pray for our Sunday worship at Pastor Elders Church.
