From One Home to Another: Celebrating Katelyn Dilcher’s Journey of Faith

Sometimes, following God means putting your life on hold as you know it to step into the life He is calling you to live.

For Katelyn Dilcher, that calling led her to Argentina.

Leaving behind the familiar comforts of home, the people she loved, and the routines that made life feel predictable, Katelyn stepped into a new culture, a new community, and a season of life that would stretch her faith in ways she may never have imagined. Serving on mission is more than traveling to another country. It is choosing to be available to God, even when the path ahead looks different from the one you originally planned.

It means learning to listen before speaking, embracing differences, building relationships across cultures, and trusting God when everything around you feels unfamiliar. It means discovering that faith grows in the uncomfortable places, that love speaks a language understood around the world, and that sometimes the greatest lessons God teaches us are found when we step outside our own comfort zones.

In Argentina, Katelyn had the opportunity to experience a different way of life, grow in her personal walk with the Lord, and encourage others through the hope and love of Christ. While she went to serve, she undoubtedly had opportunities to learn. While she went to pour into others, God continued working in her own heart. And while she made a difference in the lives of those around her, her own life was being shaped by the experience.

Because that is often how God works. We say yes to serving Him, and somewhere along the way, He changes us, too.

The Beauty of Saying Yes to God

There is something powerful about being willing to put your plans on hold for the sake of God's purpose. The world often tells us to focus on building our own future, chasing our own dreams, and moving forward on our own timeline. But a life surrendered to God looks different. It asks a deeper question: Lord, where can You use me?

Katelyn's time in Argentina is a beautiful reminder that obedience does not always mean knowing every detail of your journey. Sometimes, it simply means taking the next step in faith and trusting God to meet you there.

And now, after a meaningful season of serving, learning, and growing, Katelyn is home.

But coming home does not mean the journey is over. In many ways, it means a new chapter is just beginning.

From Argentina to a New Beginning at Home

Katelyn has returned home and is preparing to build a future with her fiancé, Trey. As she transitions from what became home in Argentina to the home she will build here, there is so much to celebrate.

Recently, we had the joy of hosting a shower in honor of Katelyn as she prepares for this exciting new season. It was an opportunity to gather around her, celebrate the woman she has become, and remind her that she is surrounded by people who love her and are cheering her on.

There is something especially meaningful about celebrating someone who has spent a season pouring into others. Now, we have an opportunity to pour into her.

As Katelyn and Trey look toward marriage and the life they will build together, they are stepping into a new season filled with possibilities, decisions, dreams, and opportunities to grow together in faith. The lessons Katelyn learned in Argentina will remain part of her story, but God is not finished writing it. The same Lord who guided her in a different country will guide her in this next chapter, too.

Home may look different now. The routines may change. The dreams may take on new shape. But God's faithfulness remains the same.

And what a gift it is to watch someone carry the fruit of one season into the beginning of another.

How Can We Encourage Katelyn and Trey?

As a community of faith, we have a beautiful opportunity to do more than celebrate milestones. We can walk alongside people as they navigate them.

We can pray for Katelyn and Trey—not just for their wedding day, but for the everyday moments that will shape their marriage. Pray that Christ will remain at the center of their relationship, that they will grow in grace and patience, and that they will seek God's wisdom as they make decisions together.

Pray for Katelyn as she adjusts to life back home. Returning from a mission experience can bring a mixture of gratitude, excitement, reflection, and even unexpected challenges. Pray that she will have space to process all God has taught her, recognize the ways He is still working, and find joy in the new rhythms of life.

Pray for Trey, too, as they prepare to build a life together. Pray that he will be encouraged, strengthened, and grounded in his own walk with the Lord. Pray for their future home to be a place where faith is lived out, grace is freely given, and others experience the love of Jesus.

In addition to prayer, look for practical ways to encourage them.

Send a note. Offer a word of affirmation. Check in after the excitement of the wedding season settles. Invite them to dinner. Ask Katelyn about her time in Argentina and listen to the stories she carries. Encourage them as they make decisions, establish routines, and discover what this new season looks like for them.

Sometimes, the most meaningful encouragement is not a grand gesture. It is simply reminding someone that they are seen, loved, remembered, and not walking alone.

Let us be people who do more than celebrate someone at the beginning of a new chapter. Let us be people who continue to show up long after the celebration ends.

Welcome home, Katelyn. We celebrate all God has done in and through you, and we cannot wait to see what He has in store for you and Trey.
