Upside Down Kingdom: Part 1
In this sermon from Matthew 5:1–6, Jesus introduces the values of an upside-down kingdom—a kingdom that runs counter to the world’s definitions of success, power, and blessing. In God’s kingdom, the poor in spirit are rich, those who mourn are comforted, the meek inherit the earth, and those who hunger for righteousness are satisfied.
As the true King, Jesus teaches with authority, revealing that the blessed life is not found in self-reliance, status, or comfort, but in humility, repentance, and dependence on God. The Beatitudes expose our spiritual bankruptcy and point us to Christ’s sufficiency, calling us to live differently now and forever.
This passage invites us to embrace kingdom values that flip worldly expectations on their head and shape us into faithful citizens of Christ’s eternal kingdom.
