UPWARD Sports

 
We’re excited about the 15th Season of UPWARD Sports @The Coliseum in Troutville. Our UPWARD Sports Ministry offers basketball and cheerleading to children from K4-6th grade (must be 5 years old by February 28th, 2023 to participate). Practices and games are held in the Gym @Rainbow Forest Baptist Church a.k.a. The Coliseum @Troutville. Practices are one night/week (i.e. one night Monday-Thursday will be chosen for your child’s practice night). Practices begin the week of November 27th, 2022 and continue throughout the Season (ends February 25th, 2023). Game Day is on Saturdays starting January 7th, 2023 and ending February 25th, 2023. There are 8 Games Days. To cap off the Season we have an UPWARD Celebration Day planned for ALL teams on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 following the last Game Day. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU FOR THE 15TH SEASON OF UPWARD SPORTS @The Coliseum in Troutville!!

Coaches/Volunteer Registration

All UPWARD Coaches and Volunteers are required to have a background check. RFBC will issue the background check through “Ministry Safe” and cover the cost.

  • Upward Basketball and Cheerleading provides a positive sports experience for every child and makes the most of your family’s time and money.

  • Life lessons are shared at each practice during the Mid-Practice Huddle.  These short five minute devotions will focus on three virtues throughout the season, each of which will be taught for three practices and highlighted by one Bible verse.  This season the lessons will focus on Respect, Gratitude and Trust. 

Basketball

  • Unique drafting system creates balanced teams. 
  • Unique substitution system produces equal playing time. 

Cheerleading

  • Teaches fundamentals. 
  • Positive cheers, chants, and pom routines. 
  • Encourages player and crowd excitement on game day.

  • Quality game-day uniform, other sport-specific gear, and multiple recognition awards.
  • One-hour practices and one-hour games all located at Rainbow Forest Baptist Church.
