Upside Down Kingdom: Part 6
In this sermon from Matthew 5:27–37, Jesus brings clarity to God’s law so we can see the depth of our sin and our deep need for Him. Addressing lust, divorce, and oaths, Jesus shows that sin is not just about outward actions but inward desires and hearts bent toward self-gratification, self-protection, and self-justification. He confronts the misuse of the law around marriage and divorce, exposing how hard hearts distort God’s good design, and He calls His followers to honest, truthful lives that don’t rely on oaths to mask a lack of integrity. Ultimately, this passage points us to grace—reminding us that when we confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us through Christ.
