Our Pastor Search Team

Our Mission Statement:

The RFBC Pastor Search Team will faithfully seek God’s discernment and wisdom as we affirm His calling on the next senior pastor. We trust the Holy Spirit to connect us to God’s will for His church and the Bible to be our authority. With one heart and one mind, we will glorify the Lord.

 Get to know us:

We are currently reading from the book “Search” by William Vanderblomemen as the first step in our process.
We don’t want to move ahead or behind God, so prayer is our first and foremost objective as we meet together as a team and make decisions.  Each member has committed to fast one day a week in order to draw closer to God for the entire search process.   We welcome you to join us in prayer and fasting as we move through this process.

Steps in the Process

  • Identify the unique characteristics of RFBC to create our church profile
  • Create job description for Lead Pastor of RFBC
  • We have begun advertising through appropriate channels and start receiving resumes
  • Begin the screening process by reviewing all resumes and selecting candidates to continue in the process
  • Start virtual interviews
  • Continue the screening process and determine which candidates move on to in-person interviews
  • Start in-person interviews, then determine the final slate of candidates for more extensive interviews
  • Finalists return with spouses for broader interviews with more members of the leadership of the church
  • Concluding affirmation process of the final candidate, offer extended and accepted.

  • We have completed our first round of interviews and have narrowed down our search. We are scheduling second round interviews now, and are excited as we feel we are moving in the direction God is calling us to.
  • We have completed our Church Profile with the help of our creative writer, Martha Spencer! Thank you to everyone who filled out our survey, your input was invaluable.  You can view it by clicking the button below.
  • We will continue meeting once a week as we move forward with the process.

 How You Can Be Involved

  • Pray that skill, insight, and discernment is given by the Holy Spirit to conduct the first round of virtual interviews.
  • Pray that the Pastor Search Team is patient, manages their time well and remains unified as they seek the Lord’s sovereign plan.
  • Pray that the Lord’s hand is on the process and that the members of RFBC have faith in His perfect timing and providence.
  • Pray for a future harmonious relationship between the existing pastors and our future pastor.
  • Pray for the church, that we would continue to experience the presence of God in our life and abide in Jesus. Pray that the Holy Spirit begins to stir our hearts for exciting changes. That there would be church-wide unity in the transition.
  • Pray that the Lord is beginning to prepare the heart of the future pastor towards our fellowship. That he will have a passion to help grow the church.
  • Pray for our next senior pastor, that he would not shrink back from suffering for the gospel – 1 Thessalonians 2:2. That he will work to please God, not men – 1 Thessalonians 2:4 and 2:6. That he would be encouraging and gracious without asking anything in return –  1 Thessalonians 2:5. Pray that he will be gentle and that he will try tenderness before toughness – 1 Thessalonians 2:7. Pray that he would present the gospel and care for the church – 1 Thessalonians 2:8. Pray that he will work hard – 1 Thessalonians 2:9. Pray that he will strive for holiness 1 Thessalonians 2:10.
  • Pray blessing to all the co-laborers in Christ who have applied so far.

  • Each member of our team has committed to fast one day a week.
  • Join us by fasting one day a week!  Remember fasting doesn’t just mean giving up food, you can give up social media, TV, or anything you feel God is telling you to give up as you seek Him.
  • The goal here is to draw closer to God through the process and to be united through His Holy Spirit as we fast and pray together. We want to hear God during every step in the process.
