THIS IS A BLOG. A CUE. A PROMPT.
It’s not an encyclopedia on everything you need to know. It’s not an exhaustive training course to make sure your kids “turn out”. It’s not a counseling hotline you can call when you have a help-I-can’t-believe-my-child-just . . .- crisis. This blog is a cue. It’s a prompt. Because really, we know you’re already incredibly busy doing all the things you should do to invest in your kids and to help them on their way to adulthood—and hopefully out of your house. But just because you are really busy doing great things doesn’t mean it’s easy to stay focused on what’s important. That’s where we come in. We want to make it easy for you to remember what’s important.
Focus on the Family
Focus on the Family is a global Christian ministry dedicated to helping families thrive. We provide help and resources for couples to build healthy marriages that reflect God's design, and for parents to raise their children according to morals and values grounded in biblical principles.
We're here to come alongside families with relevance and grace at each stage of their journey. We support families as they seek to teach their children about God and His beautiful design for the family, protect themselves from the harmful influences of culture and equip themselves to make a greater difference in the lives of those around them.
No matter who you are, what you're going through or what challenges your family may be facing, we're here to help. With practical resources - like our 1-800 Family Help line, counseling and websites – we're committed to providing trustworthy, biblical guidance and support.
Plugged In is a Focus on the Family publication designed to shine a light on the world of popular entertainment while giving families the essential tools they need to understand, navigate, and impact the culture in which they live. Through our reviews, articles and discussions, we hope to spark intellectual thought, spiritual growth and a desire to follow the command of Colossians 2:8: "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ."
Each month, Plugged In is visited more than 1 million times by people looking for detailed information about what's really in popular movies, videos, television episodes, songs and games. Entertainment industry ratings only tell you so much. We go deeper, diving into specific content and the meaning behind it. Our award-winning website also offers news and blogs.
The Center for Parent/Youth Understanding is a nonprofit organization committed to building strong families by serving to bridge the cultural-generational gap between parents and teenagers.
At a time when an already confusing youth culture is changing quickly, CPYU helps parents, youth workers, educators, and others understand teenagers and their culture so that they will be better equipped to help children and teens navigate the challenging world of adolescence.
Founded in 1989 by Walt Mueller, CPYU has developed an international reputation as a voice providing cutting-edge information, resources and analysis on today’s youth culture.
The mission of CPYU is to work with churches, schools, and community organizations to build stronger relationships between young people and those charged with helping them grow into healthy adulthood.
This mission is accomplished by:
- Helping parents understand and respond to the complex world of their children and teens from a distinctively Christian point of view.
- Equipping teenagers to deal with the challenges of adolescence.
- Raising the youth culture awareness of youth workers, parents and educators, thereby helping them increase their effectiveness with parents, children and teens.
National Center for Biblical Parenting
The National Center for Biblical Parenting was birthed in the early 90s in the hearts of Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN. Their families worked together in church ministry but it became clear that they had a powerful message that reached the hearts of families. Although they had no idea how big the ministry would develop, they knew that their heart-based, practical, biblical approach was strategic for helping Christian familes reach their full potential.
Now with over 150 trained presenters, three video training programs for churches, and authoring fifteen books on parenting, Dr. Turansky and Mrs. Miller lead a powerful ministry for churches and for individual families.
