Deacon Fellowship

Deacons

The Fellowship of Deacons are men called by God and appointed for the purpose of:

  1. Providing lay spiritual leadership for RFBC
  2. Providing practical help and care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of this Church family and those to whom we minister
  3. Cooperating with and assisting the Elders to build up and care for this Church body

Qualifications

As spiritual leaders within the Church and in order to be a worthy servant for the sake

of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Deacons are to show evidence of being born

again and maintain a mature walk with the Lord. Scriptural qualifications are listed in

1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Acts 6:3.

Responsibilities

As spiritual leaders of this Church, Deacons have the responsibility and privilege of supporting the Elders in meeting and caring for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the Church family. The Deacons shall organize themselves however they determine to best to achieve the mission of the Church. The Elders or the Deacons may designate any specific Deacon or group of Deacons to specialize in some particular function. Meetings of the Deacons or subcommittees thereof shall be held as needed to best fulfill the responsibilities of the Deacons. While an Elder may designate further responsibilities to the Deacon Fellowship, scripture implies that the Deacons have a responsibility to organize and administer this Church’s benevolent program. At their discretion, they may organize other committees or members to assist in this responsibility. Every effort should be made to administer this plan expediently, effectively, and with a discerning spirit.
