Great Commission Prayer Plan

The Great Commission Prayer Plan

God has called us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth (Matthew 28:18-20). People must hear the Gospel in order to enter into a right relationship with God. This commission from Jesus requires the broken and fervent praying of God’s people. If the Gospel is going to penetrate the darkness of this world, God’s people must ask for this.   The Great Commission Prayer Plan will guide you to pray powerfully and effectively. It is intended to help you join God in His work of bringing the nations to Himself.

Monday - Missionaries

On Monday, cover the missionaries and ministries that RFBC has the privilege of partnering with in prayer. Intercede for the needs and the requests of missionaries. For a listing of those we support through Faith Promise, click here.

Tuesday - Nations

On Tuesday, pray for the nations of the world. You might consider adopting particular nations that you will pray for. Check out the Operation World website to pray through the nations (click here).

Wednesday - People Groups

On Wednesday, you can pray for particular people groups.  Pray for RFBC’s adopted people groups – the Mina of Rajasthan, India; the Balkar of the Caucasus Mountains in Russia; and the Kaitag of Dagestan in Russia.  Find out more about the different unreached  people groups of the world by visiting the Joshua Project (click here).

Thursday – World Leaders

On Thursday, cover world leaders in prayer. You can find an extensive list of the world leaders on the CIA website - click here.   You might consider praying through this list over a period of time. Each Thursday, you might pray for a particular number of the leaders. You might consider praying for the leaders of the nations of the missionaries for whom you are praying.

Friday - Listening Day

On Friday, use this day to simply wait on the Lord. Ask Him, “Father, what needs do you want me to pray for today? What missionaries do I need to pray for today? Guide me in how you want me to pray for the spread of the Gospel today.” As He impresses names and needs on your mind and heart, pray with fervency.

Saturday - Bible Translation

Pray today for the translation of the Scripture into the languages of the world. You might consider praying for the translation of the Bible into the languages where your missionaries are working. You might cry out for the various nations and the translation of the Bible into their language.  Check out the Wycliffe website for ideas on how to pray (click here).  Pray also for the JESUS Film Project as they seek to produce and distribute the Jesus film in every language (click here)

Sunday - Your Church and a Heart for Missions

On Sunday, ask God to give the church body a heart for the nations. Pray that the believers of your church would be committed to sharing their faith. Ask that the believers would be involved in missions through prayer, giving, and taking part in mission projects and trips.
