This sermon from 1 Peter 5:1–4 unpacks God’s design for elders and their vital role in shepherding His people. Elders are called to lead as eager examples—guiding believers toward Christ, guarding them from error, and grounding them in God’s Word—while modeling humility and servant-hearted leadership. Because they will one day give an account to God, elders are to lead with faithfulness and endurance, keeping their eyes fixed on Christ. In turn, the church is called to encourage, trust, and pray for their leaders, following their example as they follow Jesus.
