The church has displayed a repentance that happens only at the
point of salvation, but God’s Word details out a lifestyle of
repentance. As a continually sinning people, we must also be a
continually repenting people. Repenting is turning from sin/self
and turning to God. Verse 20 shows that repenting from sin brings
times of refreshment as believers turn to the presence of God. Do
you feel like you haven’t been refreshed in the Lord’s presence?
Could it be that you have sin that needs to be turned from? Christ
will return and gather His church, but until that time (v. 21), He is
working from heaven to bring restoration. Until Christ returns, His
people should be a relentless, repenting people, desiring to be
refreshed in the Lord’s restoring work, till He returns to call the
saints home.
