In most churches across America today, there seems to be an
ongoing debate in terms of whether human effort/obedience is
needed in order for us to live in the power of Jesus. The thing that
is most often left out of this discussion, however, is a strong
biblical emphasis on future grace that Christ followers will no
doubt receive as they daily live out their faith. The kind of grace
that will show up this afternoon when we are not even anticipating it, or in the morning when we are getting the kids ready for school. God’s grace is vital in our obedience to Jesus because it empowers our faith-filled effort to obey all things that Jesus is asking of us. Because of Jesus’ past work on the cross, grace is poured out on us in the present and future.
Now, that is a massively important verse on the relationship between my obedience and God’s grace, and God’s power and my faith.

Other verses: Ephesians 1, Philippians 2:13, 1 Thessalonians 2:12-13, 1 Peter 5:10

Pray and ask God to remind you of all the spiritual riches He obtained for you on the cross. What truths of the gospel will
motivate you to be obedient to Jesus today?

Read 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12.
