Enter the church at the main entrance to the left you will see the two glass doors. This is the entrance to the Roy D. Smith Library.
Hours of Operation
Sunday 8:30-9:00 AM, 10:20-10:40 AM, 12:15-12:45 PM, 5:30-6:00 &
7:30-8:00 PM. The library will be open at other times as library staff
is available. When the library is closed, items can be returned in the
Media Drop (down the hall beside the library) in the door slot.
Purpose
The Library’s purpose is to provide an opportunity to our church family to check out and utilize resources such as books, periodicals, and audio/video media. Some of the media we provide includes:
- Books for all ages – children, youth, and adults.
- Fiction, non-fiction, biographies, Bible study, missions, prayer, evangelism and Christian growth.
- Audiocassettes, Books, CD’s, DVD’s, and Videocassettes.
- Christian Magazines and periodicals
- Resource materials for viewing such as: Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, and Bibles in several translations.
- Teacher resources - These can be obtained by contacting our Minister of Education Pastor Nathan Grooms.
Bibles & Books for Sale
The library also has a small selection of Bibles and books for sale. Each Bible and book are priced individually. These items are sold at, or below cost and is available for anyone to purchase.
These and other services are available to members of Rainbow Forest Baptist Church. Specific requirements for membership include:
- Must be a member of Rainbow Forest Baptist Church.
- Adult members may apply for a library card by filling out an index card with name, address and telephone number. The librarian will assign you a numbered library card. For your convenience we will keep your information on file.
- Members age 10 – 18 may apply for a library card with parental consent. Under age 10 must have a parent who is a member and that parent must be present at time of check out.
- We ask that members not loan any library materials to friends or relatives. All materials are entrusted to the care of each borrower. They will be responsible for paying for any late or damaged materials they have checked out. Library materials should be returned on time and in good condition.
- All materials (audiocassettes, books, CDs, DVDs and videocassettes) must be checked out at the Circulation Desk by librarian staff.
- Books and Magazines may be checked out for 2 weeks. Audiocassettes, CDs, DVDs, and Videocassettes may be checked out for 1 week.
- Members may check out a combined total of 4 Books and Magazines per person and a combined total of 3 Audiocassettes, CDs, DVDs, and Videocassettes per person.
- Materials may be renewed if there are no outstanding requests for the material. Please bring in the material to be renewed. If a member needs any material for an extended period of time, please talk to a librarian for special permission to check out the material for an extended period.
- All outstanding overdue material must be returned before any additional material is checked out.
- The replacement cost of any lost or damaged materials will be used when determining the amount a member should pay for lost or damaged materials.
- Over due fines are as follows: $.25 cents per item for every week that the item is late. The maximum fine for each material shall not exceed $4.00.
- Non church members may not check out materials, however they can use them in the library during regular library hours.
Gifts and Memorials
The library has a Selection and Gift Policy. Any gifts to the library must meet the criteria established in the Selection and Gift Policy. Copies of the Selection and Gift Policy are available at the Circulation Desk. Monetary donations are always accepted and are preferred for gifts in honor or memory of an individual.
Requests
If an item is in the Computer but not on the shelves, fill out a PLEASE RESERVE OR LOCATE... form on an index card available at the Circulation Desk. You will be contacted when we locate the item. If the library does not own an item, fill out a PLEASE ADD TO THE COLLECTION... form on an index card. We will consider acquiring the material if it conforms to our Selection and Gift Policy.
