Now that we're well into the "pilot" of our new worship schedule with the various style and venue changes we've made, I thought I'd mention a few things I've noticed from the front.
It's the joy of my life to be a worship leader, and as Pastor Mike says often, we love all the services! You may be wondering if we really mean that, or if we're just saying it, but it is really true. We enjoy the hymns from the early service, rich in theological content, and the familiarity strikes a chord with us and conjers memories from the early days of our faith experience. For many of the Sundays since I've been here, the morning hymns at Heritage end up being the prevailing thought as I walk through the following services. For Resonate, I think the thing I like the most is the thing that really probably only affects me. Let's call it, Worship Pastor Dress Code. I say that because other than me, everyone pretty much dresses the same as they always have. But for me, it's that opportunity to show up in jeans, Tshirt and my beloved yet well worn crocs on my feet - and often these are shed for the service. (side note - this isn't a burning bush thing, I just like to lose the shoes.) Then finally, I run over to Celebrate. And yes, I mean run. This is the service we probably put the most time into, due to the number of people involved on the platform and in the loft. To get that many people on the same page, requires planning, rehearsal, and an astounding level of commitment from them each week - which they exhibit in a wonderful way! It's a whirlwind of a day for me and some members of the worship ministry, but always finishing with a wonderful sense that we've met with one God who loves the heart of worship regardless of style.
